Our founder, Zach Rose, began his journey recruiting for general and specialty construction roles in Southern California, where the fight for top talent was highly competitive. The biggest lesson learned was realizing how crucial hiring the highest caliber candidates is for winning more projects and growing companies.

While working at a contingent recruitment firm, Zach witnessed the dark side of recruiting: recruiters lacked basic construction knowledge, would market the same candidate to multiple clients and thus create a bidding war. Even worse, he saw recruiters manipulate & misrepresent candidate information to fill roles for a commission rather than commit to filling strategic positions with the right person, and even saw recruiters stealing candidates from their own clients to fill newer positions.

Forge began with the mission to fix this broken model and created a flat rate model to prioritize meeting our clients' hiring needs instead of a commission. In breaking the commission model, Forge comes alongside our clients to understand the uniqueness of their company mission and vision, attract and source talent, and streamline the hiring process to make it easy and affordable to hire the best candidates for individual needs.

OUR STORY

Them: Traditional Contingent Recruiting

  • A contingent recruiter charges a percentage of the salary to engage a role to fill a position at an approximate salary range of $110,000-130,000 (sample salary for a Project Manager)
  • Recruiter is not necessarily dedicated to the role
  • Standard rates for placement are 15-25% of the candidates first year salary
  • One placement costs anywhere from $16,500 - $32,500 
  • The guarantee is only 90 days.

Forge: The Retained Model

  • A client engages Forge to hire an employee.
  • Forge enters a monthly engagement to work on the position at a flat fee between $5,000 (for one position) to $10,000 (for multiple positions)
  • Forge is contracted to be dedicated to filling the role quickly and filling the roll well.
  • To place a candidate, the engagement lasts between 15-60 days 
  • Total placement cost is between $5,000-$20,000 depending on how many candidates & how long the client engages our services.
  • The placement guarantee extends beyond 90 days.
