PAR stands for: Problem, Action Result:

Problem: Describe the situation you faced and the background.

Action: How did you solve the problem? What was your decision process like?

Result: What was the result? Quantify the results of saved time, money, or improved quality or efficiency.

Answer:

Problem: On my last project, we realized that the spec'd AHU was going to be delayed by 3 weeks and push our project past the due date.

Action: I called a meeting with the customer to discuss possible options. Because of past project experiences where we had a similar issue, I thought there might be an opportunity to use a similar model that would comply with the code so that we could get in sooner. I did the research and brought the solution forward showing how the solution would work.

Result: By value engineering the solution, we completed the project 5 days early, exceeding the customer's goal.
